Advocate Dr. Jyoti Zongluju Represents India in Switzerland, Highlights Youth Role in Advancing Women’s Rights

Geneva, Switzerland | August 12, 2026 | Dr. Jyoti Zongluju, Chairperson of the World Human Rights Research Council (WHRRC), Advocate at the Supreme Court of India, and Arunachal Pradesh’s first-generation woman advocate, represented India as a panel member and young advocate at an international programme held at the World Health Organization (WHO) Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. Dr. Zongluju’s participation in Geneva is being regarded as an important international milestone in her continued work for women’s rights, youth empowerment, social justice, equality, and human rights. Addressing the international gathering, she highlighted the challenges faced by women and young people and emphasized the need to ensure that policies promoting gender equality and women’s rights translate into meaningful benefits for people at the grassroots level. During the discussion, Advocate Zongluju emphasized the critical role of young people in bridging the gap between gender-equality policies and the lived experiences of women. She stated that youth participation should not remain limited to formal representation; young people must be given meaningful opportunities to contribute to policy-making, public awareness, leadership, advocacy, and decision-making processes. “Real change begins when policies reach the lives of the people for whom they are created. Young people are not merely the voice of the future; they must also be active participants in shaping the present.” As a first-generation advocate from Arunachal Pradesh, Dr. Zongluju’s professional journey reflects perseverance, determination, continuous effort, and a strong commitment to social transformation. Alongside her responsibilities as an advocate before the Supreme Court of India, she has consistently raised issues concerning women’s rights, youth empowerment, human rights, and social justice on national and international platforms. Dr. Zongluju has participated in various international leadership and advocacy platforms and has represented India in global forums.
